Hackney CVS: 16 years of impact
Above you can see our achievements over the last 15 years of Hackney CVS. You can download this here.
How we started out
Hackney CVS was founded as an umbrella organisation to support the development of the voluntary and community sector.
Established in 1995 following a survey carried out with Hackney Council in 1995, amongst local groups and organizations who expressed keen interest in having a Council for Voluntary Service or CVS and stressed the need for information, liaison with the borough and advice and support around funding issues as major concerns.
Our first staff were recruited in 1996 and a year later, former Director Adiaha Antigha joined and led the organisation until her untimely death in 1996 when Jake Ferguson took over. Read about Adiaha's achivements for Hackney CVS and the local sector here
Every year, Hackney CVS holds the Adiaha Antigha Community Achievements Awards in Adiaha's memory.
We are a limited company no: 3365292 and a registered charity no: 1069736 and are governed by an executive committee. We are a membership organisation with over 90 members. In turn, we ourselves are members of NCVO, NAVCA and East London CVS Network.
