discussion image

What has happened so far?

  • In April 2010, we sent out a questionnaire to Hackney voluntary and community sector - the results will be published shortly.  Thank you to everyone who took part.
  • On 24 May 2010, we held a Visioning event with representatives of public bodies, voluntary sector infrastructure organisations and the Community Empowerment Network, which will help to establish a vision for the Third Sector Strategy.

Next Steps: 12 week consultation

There will be a full 12-week (minimum) period of consultation with you the sector in line with Compact consultation principles. More information will be available soon.

About developing a third sector strategy for Hackney

NAVCA, the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action, has been commissioned by HCVS to develop this VCS Strategy. This Strategy will be ultimately owned by Team Hackney who make strategic decisions about the provision of local resources.

Its implementation will be led by HCVS, the Voluntary Sector Liaison Group and the Council’s Partnership Directorate but obviously we will need to ensure that the sector leads the debate and sets out the key local priorities for the voluntary and community sector.

The strategy will need to take a long-term view, setting out a 10-year vision for voluntary organisations and community groups in Hackney. The paper opposite called VCS Strategy for Hackney – initial analysis provides some background to the initial thinking.
