Adiaha loved children and young people and we wanted to hear about organisations or individuals who have developed projects that have made a real impact to the lives of local children and young people.
Janette Collins of The Crib is an excellent example of a someone running a community led project which is having a real and direct impact on improving the lives of our borough’s young people.
Janette was nominated by Philip Poole, of Hackney Police’s Partnership and Problem Solving Unit, who was overawed by Janette’s hard work and dedication.
Janette said: “Winning this award is an honour, Adiaha was a beautiful woman who help many people in the community, and she played a big part in the development of The Crib. At times when we had no venue, Adiaha provided us with a place to grow and develop – giving us the opportunity to continue running our project. The Crib has helped hundreds of local young people to become active citizens and play a positive role in our community.”
Philip said of Janette: ‘I have been aware of the work of The Crib since 2001. Janette has always been prepared to go the extra mile to help young people in Hackney to achieve their potential. |
