The Black & Ethnic Minority Arts network (BEMA) was established by Hackney Council for Voluntary Service (HCVS) in 2002.
BEMA promote, service and provide a strategic framework for the development of Black and Ethnic minority arts organisations in the borough. The network consists of over 50 organisations with many of the leading black & ethnic minority organisations as members. It is a key arts cluster in Hackney, has members in the Hackney Cultural Forum as well as many other networks.

“BEMA members have made a significant but often unsung contribution to the Arts in Hackney and London over the last 30 years in this borough” Jake Ferguson, Assistant Director HCVS and interim coordinator of BEMA.
