The Hackney Community Empowerment Network (CEN) promotes and supports the voluntary and community sector's role in Team Hackney.

CEN and Team Hackney

Hackney Community Empowerment Network (CEN) is a group of representatives from Hackney’s thriving voluntary and community sector (VCS) whose role it is to support the VCS to participate as fully as possible in decision making and shaping local services.

Team Hackney has been set up to bring together all the major public sector agencies, local businesses and VCS organisations to make the Borough a better place to live, work, study, visit and do business.

The aim is to ensure that everyone involved in promoting the social, economic and environmental well being of Hackney is able to work together in a co-ordinated way to improve the quality of life. Team Hackney is directed by a partnership board and five thematic partnership boards and several specialist sub-groups.

Hackney Compact Refresh

The Hackney Compact is an agreement between the voluntary / community / third sector and public sector organisations about how they will work together in order to benefit local people, including commitments relating to funding, premises, volunteering and policy development.

All statutory, community, voluntary and Third Sector organisations are asked to respond to this consultation on draft text for the Compact. Consultation closes 27 June 2008.

Voluntary and community sector consultation events

On behalf of Hackney’s Community Empowerment Network (CEN), HCVS has organised four consultation events for local voluntary and community organisations to discuss the Compact. This is an opportunity for you to have your say and discuss important issues explored in the COMPACT such as premises, volunteering and funding.
