Local Network Fund (LNF) 2007
The Local Network Find is a government initiative managed by DfES, and offers grants from £250 - £7000 to small local community / voluntary groups who want to organise or run a project or activity for disadvantaged children & young people aged up to 19 years (or 25 in the case of young people with disabilities).
If you have a great idea for a project or activity that will make a difference to the lives of children or young people who are in poverty or at a disadvantage please call 0845 113 0161 for an application pack.

Who is eligible for a grant?
To apply for a Local Network Fund grant you need: . to be a voluntary, community or self-help group in Hackney. If you are an informal group you can still apply if you get a larger not-for-profit organisation to accept funding on your behalf; . to be working with children and young people aged up to 19, who have little money, may face discrimination or are isolated from activities available to other young people; . involving volunteers in your project - parents, young people or local residents that are not part of your management committee.
Preference will be given to projects that work with disadvantaged children and young people from poor estates, ethnic minority communities, disabled children and projects at risk of closure.
Outreach and support is available from HCVS's Grants Team to help you complete your application and provide general advice and guidance about setting up and managing projects. Call HCVS on 020 7923 1962.
Who cannot apply for funding?
. individuals, statutory organisations (such as local councils, schools or colleges) or national organisations unless independently constituted and locally managed; . activities to help only one child or family; . projects for personal profit - you must have a charitable purpose; . activities promoting religious or political beliefs from which people are excluded on religious or political grounds.
Your activity must fit one of four themes:
being healthy: activities that promote a healthy lifestyle for children and young people*. examples: sports sessions, healthy eating classes, peer support projects on drug misuse.
staying safe: activities that contribute to children and young people* being protected from harm and neglect and help them grow up able to look after themselves. examples: anti-bullying projects, after school clubs. enter text
enjoying and achieving: activities that help children and young people* maximise their potential and develop skills for adulthood. examples: theatre arts groups, music and dance classes.
making a positive contribution: activities that encourage children and young people* to use their skills to enhance their own lives and communities. examples: conservation schemes, recycling programmes.
economic wellbeing: activities that help children and young people* overcome income barriers and achieve their full potential. examples: preparation for work and training, financial literacy.
