What does HCVS do?

Hackney CVS promotes and supports the development of the voluntary and community sector in Hackney.

We do this by providing:

# Advice and support (see CAPACITY BUILDING) — on setting up and running a group. This might include advice on funding, finance, staff and volunteers, business planning or charity registration, in any combination.

# Training — organising and delivering courses and workshops and circulating information about other local training opportunities.

# Practical Services — supporting the development of groups and organizations through offering practical assistance, for example, photocopying, design & publicity, resources and briefing papers.

# Representation and Networking — acting as a liaison agent between voluntary/community organizations and between the voluntary sector and the public and private sectors; promoting the interests of the community and voluntary sector.

# Registered charity & limited company
# Umbrella supporting voluntary & community sector
# Over 295 members – 60% BME groups
# One-to-one funding surgeries – over 600 sessions per year
