Adam is also the Director of Hackney Cooperative Developments (HCD) a Community Interest Company which first emerged from the grass roots in 1979 in response to a need for people in Hackney housing co-operatives to find ways of setting up co-operative businesses in the Borough.
From this base, supported by grants from Hackney Council, the GLC and the Urban Programme, HCD provides suitable premises and business support services for local people wishing to set up in business as work co-ops - particularly people facing disadvantage in establishing themselves in business: people from minority ethnic communities, women, young people and the under-capitalised.
